General French courses

  • First course on Thursday September 3rd
  • Price 2026/2027: €160 (excluding yearly FoyerRural membership of €20)
  • Courses take place on the 1st floor of the old Abbey building in Saint-Maurin, accessed from « rue du 11 novembre », from September untill June, every Thursday, except school holidays, for 30 sessions.

Our teacher, Marion Lorriard is a specialist language teacher, fully qualified in teaching French as a foreign language. 

Our Thursday French courses aim at helping people to communicate and understand French, to help them deal with everyday life and integrate into French society.  They are based on conversation, comprehension, spoken language and vocabulary. They are fun and easy going.  There is no official homework. It is up to each student to decide how much follow-up learning they wish to do out of course hours.

We offer 5 levels.  Duration is 1.25 hours.

  • 14h30  Advanced 2 
  • 15h45  Beginners

New French courses

  • Courses will take place on the 1st floor of the old Abbey building in Saint-Maurin, accessed from « rue du 11 novembre », from September every Monday, except school holidays.

Building on the success of the current French courses, the Foyer Rural is pleased to announce some additional classes: These will take place on Monday mornings. These courses are not meant as a substitute to the current general language courses, but to help people to cater for their individual needs.  

Preparation for DELF exams (Le diplôme d’études en langue française) required for Resident Permits and nationality applications.

  • For the DELF  levels A1, A2, B1 and B2, Marion is  offering  3 month courses (12 sessions) courses catering for the required  level by the students. 
  • Each lesson will last 1.5 hours and will need a minimum 4 participants.  
  • Exemple Price: €180 for 3 months based on 4 students. The final cost will depend on the number of participants

 Phonetics/Pronunciation

  • These will focus on phonetics and rhythm of speech and will run with students at various levels of French. Teaching focuses very much on individual problems of each student and the classes will be 1 hour long. It is possible to run a class all year long like our traditional courses with a similar pricing structure if we get a minimum of 8 students
  • Price: €160 per year excluding yearly Foyer Rural Menbership of €20
  • We could also run these courses with less students in 3 month modules, in which case the exemple price would be120€ for 3 months based on 4 students. The final cost will depend on the number of participants

Grammar

  • Marion is also proposing grammar courses in 3 month modules, where she could offer specific areas of grammar.  These lessons will last one hour and the exemple price for 3 months would be €120 based on 4 students.
